Gli Action Clusters saranno essenziali per il Partenariato europeo per l’innovazione sulle Smart Cities and Communities

ERRIN, the Platform of Research and Innovation Organisations and Stakeholders in Regions, organised the 'Smart Cities Capacity Building Event' on the 12th of May, in collaboration with the Microsoft Innovation Centre.
The aim of the conference was to emphasize the importance of the Invitation for Commitments process, open until the 15th of June. The EIP on Smart Cities and Communities is already moving towards action. Its objective is to obtain a more concerted action between cities and industries and to bring together innovative ideas and actions from across Europe.
During the event, the EC highlighted the relevance of the Action Clusters to promote collaborative processes for implementing actions in priority areas, based in three objectives: peer review for existing and new actions; critical mass and visibility; and match-making with finance. Besides, the event emphasized that engaging in an Action Cluster could lead to public-private partnerships.
The exchange of best practices and the opportunity to prepare funding calls were other of the advantages mentioned during the event, in relation to the Invitation for Commitments process. Hence, being involved offers business opportunities to the participants and enables them to influence on the European policy and legislation, as well as on the Horizon 2020 calls related to Smart City topics.
The 6 Action Clusters which have been set up so far are:
- Business models
- Citizen Focus
- Integrated infrastructure & processes
- Policy & Regulations / Integrated planning
- Sustainable Districts and Built Environment
- Sustainable Urban Transport
