On 27 and 28 May 2015, the EIP-AGRI held the workshop “Building new biomass supply chains for the bio-based economy’’ aimed at fostering cooperation mechanisms between agriculture/forestry and the industry for a steady and reliable supply, and a fair income for farmers and forest owners. As a follow-up to this event, Copa-Cogeca is organising a workshop entitled “What instruments/tools to develop logistics for the agriculture and forestry biomass supply chain?” It will be held in Brussels on 16 November 2015, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

This workshop aims to continue the debate held in May, by focussing on opportunities for the agricultural and forestry sector to further develop biomass supply chains. Biomass from forestry and agriculture has much untapped potential in the EU, which could be sustainably mobilised. In order to unlock this potential, we must seek solutions to better use existing resources, increase the engagement of farmers and forest owners, advise them and promote knowledge transfer and innovation, invest in new technologies, and develop new business models.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for farmers, forest holders and their cooperatives, researchers, advisers, and experts from various European organisations and institutions to have a fruitful debate and identify solutions on how the agricultural and forestry sector could better contribute to further developing the bio-based economy.
