The German partners want to enter the next Eurostars call with the vision of providing an imaging device for the improved treatment of the largely neglected phenomenon of vitreous floaters. Floaters are opacities in the vitreous body that are harmless, but can be exceedingly bothersome. The literature, reports from experience and a study conducted by one of the partners clearly point out the need for improved care and further research. Treatment of vitreous floaters still represents a largely unexploited market.
An easy-to-use imaging device would contribute to improved care and facilitate further research into future therapies. The consortium is looking for a systems integrator to unite the developed technology in a pre-clinical system. This partner should be an SME preferably from the field of ophthalmology, that is interested in either marketing the device directly to the clinics or act as an OEM. Additionally, the consortium is interested in partners with clinical background to prepare the clinical use of the imaging device. MDR expertise is already present in the consortium, but will still be highly appreciated. Research partners will only be able to join in tandem with an SME partner.
